The application for the prestigious $30,000 Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship will be available on September 17th. You must be nominated in order to have your application submitted. I will be having at least one workshop for those who meet the eligibility requirements. Contact me if you have any questions. I will give more information as I receive it.

Luce Scholars

The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship program. The program provides stipends, language training and individualized professional placement in Asia for 15-18 Luce Scholars each year and welcomes applications from college seniors, graduate students and young professionals in a variety of fields who have had limited exposure to Asia. http://www.hluce.org/lsprogram.aspx

Community Service Workshops

As you start reviewing scholarship applications, you will notice that community service is usually a requirement to qualify.  I'm sure that many of you have done community service without realizing it.  It is important that you not only give serious thought to doing community service, but to create a better understanding of what community service is.

Please check the Student Success, Career and Scholarship workshops schedule and plan to attend as many as possible, but especially the Community Service workshop.  Make an appointment through the Career Center to participate.

Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute College & Graduate Scholarships

Deadline: April 16, 2013

These scholarships are afforded to Latino students in the United States who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who demonstrate a desire to continue their civic engagement in the future.  There is no GPA or academic major requirement.  Students with excellent leadership potential are encouraged to apply.

CHCI scholarships provide recipients with a one time scholarship of:
1.  $1,000 to pursue as associate degree
2.  $2,500 to pursue an undergraduate degree
3.  $5,000 to pursue graduate-level study

Scholarship--La Unidad Latina Foundation

Educational scholarships are awarded to Hispanic students on a competitive basis and range from $250 to $1000.
Applicants must:
1.  Have a GPA of 2.80 out of 4.0 scale.
2.  Currently enrolled in eligible bachelor's or master's degree program at an accredited four-year college or university.  (All bachelor's degrees and Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Public Administration /Policy, Master of Social Work, Master of Education and Master of Divinity.
3.  Completed at least one full-time year of study for undergraduate applicants, and at least one full-time semester of study for graduate applicants.
4.  Reside in the United States

HSF/General College Scholarships

Deadline: December 15, 2012 HSF/ General College Scholarships are designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree.
